Shape is part of the format
The rectangular shape is defined by rMQR itself. Its structural patterns and data arrangement differ from the familiar square symbol. A printer or designer cannot create a valid rectangular code by changing the aspect ratio of a normal QR export.
That distinction matters on small equipment, components or packaging where a long strip of space is available but a square panel is not. The format can be useful in a controlled scanning workflow, provided the readers and downstream software support it.
Validate the whole system
Start with a list of receiving scanners and the formats their current firmware or software supports. Ask for actual rMQR test labels rather than relying on a generic claim that the device reads QR codes. Closely related names can hide different decoder capabilities.
A correct decode still needs to reach the intended application. For an asset identifier, confirm the field mapping in the inventory system. For another payload, check the interpretation and character encoding. The operational test should include the final material and the likely viewing angle.
Use a square QR for general sharing
Tidy QR focuses on standard QR for browser generation and everyday phone use. Its export preserves the square module geometry. If a design only leaves a narrow strip, consider moving the code to another panel or linking a shorter payload before changing barcode formats.
A familiar-looking symbol is not sufficient evidence of compatibility. Maintain a human-readable identifier beside specialized labels so a damaged code does not interrupt the entire process. Record the symbology in the print specification, because a later supplier might otherwise substitute a square QR without understanding the reading-system dependency.
Put this into practice in the QR generator, then inspect the decoded payload before printing.
