Start with the current dependency
The feature table says codes always scan; the analytics allowance is not a code-expiration claim. The individual free plan lists 2 dynamic Flowcodes and analytics for up to 500 scans.
Before switching, decode an existing image. If it points directly to content you control, you may only need a different design or export tool. If it points through the current provider, a new account elsewhere will not change the address already printed. Plan to replace the artwork unless the original account can still update that destination.
Tidy QR for a local static workflow
Tidy QR fits a direct URL, contact details, WiFi instructions or another supported static payload. Creation, styling, image verification and exports happen in your browser. There is no account to maintain for the image itself. This is useful when you can keep the destination stable and want to retain an editable SVG or vector-module PDF in your own files.
A static image does not provide a hosted redirect dashboard or scan reporting. For those requirements, compare the managed options below and confirm the selected plan's terms. A service can be the better choice when a team needs centralized controls.
Other options worth comparing
| Product | Documented free offer | Price observation |
|---|---|---|
| Uniqode | Static codes are free. Dynamic codes use a trial or active subscription. | US$9 per month, Essential, billed yearly |
| Hovercode | 3 dynamic QR codes, unlimited scans and 3 months of analytics history. | A$19 per month, Pro, localized page |
| Canva QR generator | Canva currently documents free static and dynamic QR generation. | Free generator; broader subscription prices not compared |
Uniqode
Uniqode is better suited to an organization that wants a managed dynamic-code product with published plan allowances. Essential lists 15 dynamic codes and scan history, while higher tiers add collaboration and integration capabilities. The support page separates static and dynamic behavior clearly.
Static codes do not expire. Dynamic trial codes stop after the trial without a subscription.
Hovercode
Hovercode is a strong option when a small number of editable codes and unlimited scans matter more than local-only creation. The free plan includes logo customization and a defined analytics-history window. The localized Pro page lists 100 dynamic codes and additional branding options.
The free plan says the codes do not expire. Service availability and account terms still apply.
Canva QR generator
Canva is better when the QR is part of a wider design project: a flyer, invitation, presentation or business card. Its current documentation includes both static and dynamic codes, editing and sharing within designs. Business and Enterprise features include custom-logo options and scan insights.
The page says codes remain valid, subject to platform rules and any configured expiry settings.
Move the workflow without losing the destination
Keep the existing provider account active while you inventory printed material. Save the destination, decoded payload and source artwork together. Create a replacement, inspect its content, and test it on the final material before distributing it. Update digital copies as well as the next print run so visitors are not sent through an abandoned link.
The practical cost of a switch includes replacing signs and documents, not just a subscription. Where a provider still solves the job and its terms are acceptable, keeping it can be simpler than moving. These options are a decision aid, not an independent performance benchmark.
